Mavroudis Olive Oil is one of the most respected olive oil producers on the globe. Every year, the oils win gold medals and other prizes all over the world – be it Berlin, Athens, London, New York, Canada or even Italy – hardly any other oil makes it to the top places so consistently…and you can taste it!
Our visit to the affiliated olive museum was worth the trip to Corfu alone. We were able to learn a lot about olives and the handling of fine olive oil.
We also liked the fact that sustainability and the preservation of old varieties as well as the knowledge of everything that has to do with olives are really lived here.
Spiros, the owner of the company, personally took the time to show us the different techniques of oil extraction over the centuries in the museum.
Basically, the original technique was the most fascinating and quite suitable to make one’s own olive oil always available at home with little effort.
In addition to the museum, there was of course also the small but fine olive oil production – here hundreds of families from Corfu give their olives for oil production into faithful hands. In addition to the classic olive oil varieties, the oils at Mavroudis can also be flavoured naturally on request.
Of course, this place also has a shop – here you can take all the award-winning and flavoured oils (garlic, basil, chilli, orange, etc.) home with you. We especially liked the many olive wood products such as spoons, turners and large salad bowls at acceptable prices.
A crystal-clear recommendation from us to visit this “temple of olive oil”!
