El Gaucho
Some time ago I visited with a good Bangkok friend the El Gaucho Bangkok – the “branch” not far from the Grand Mercure ASOKE…right next to Terminal 21. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very inviting and authentic, you felt right at home and almost like in a Argentina steakhouse. The furnishings are very attractive and invite you to linger even beyond the good steak. Continue reading El Gaucho
Nicolas Basset – former Executive Chef of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit & Chef of Belga Rooftop Bar & Brasserie
Nicolas Basset – Chef Nico – is one of the most innovative chefs I have ever met. Before he started the BELGA project at Sofitel Sukhumvit, he was already sous chef at the MGallery Sofitel VIE Hotel.
The cuisine of the VIE Hotel enjoys an excellent reputation for a reason – for many years now, chefs of rank, name and stars have been coming here to set new highlights and pass on their knowledge.
Since the beginning of 2020, Nico has not only been head chef at BELGA but has also risen to the management level of the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit with the position of executive chef – congratulations.
Sofitel Sukhumvit
Bangkok is worth a trip and not just – as sung by the band Alphaville – for one night. During my stays in Thailand over the past few years, I have tried to keep my time in the capital as short as possible – the hustle and bustle definitely didn’t seem to be conducive to relaxation. Grand Mercure ASOKE
The Grand Mercure ASOKE is a five star apartment hotel in the heart of Bangkok – the ideal starting point to explore the city by BTS (sky train) or MRT (subway) or go shopping in the immediate vicinity – for example in the Terminal 21 ASOKE mall (there is a free shuttle every half an hour). The Grand Richmond Hotel
Location, transport links and surroundings
The Richmond Hotel is located away from the crowded centre of Bangkok, not far from the Chao Phraya River. If you stay here, you will definitely escape the massive smog of the city centre, but there are still plenty of opportunities for activities. Not far away from the hotel there are some shopping malls, many small restaurants, a very nice park and also Wat Suan Kaeo – a not overfrequented temple with a beautiful garden – here one notices visitors as well as inhabitants quickly that it is more relaxed than in the dependency in the city centre.
